Privacy policy

Daybreak Gazette is published by Avinash. This page explains what information the site handles when you read it.

In short

Readers do not need an account. The site shows no advertising, and it does not use analytics or tracking tools. It does not set cookies for readers.

What we collect

  • Server records. Like most websites, the computers that host this site record technical details of each visit, such as the IP address, the browser type, the page requested and the time. We use these records to keep the site running and secure. They are kept by our hosting provider under its own policies.
  • Story read counts. We count how many times each story is opened per day, so we can show a “Most read” list. This is a plain number for each story. It is not linked to your IP address, your device or you.
  • Messages you send us. If you email us, we keep your message and address so we can reply and, where needed, correct a story.

The public site has no sign-up, comments or contact forms, so it collects nothing else from readers.

Cookies and storage on your device

  • Readers: no cookies are set. If you switch between light and dark mode, your browser remembers the choice on your own device. We never receive it.
  • Editors: a cookie keeps our staff signed in to the private admin area. It is not used on the public pages.

Other companies involved

  • Fonts. The site's typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google when a page loads, and Google receives your IP address and browser details.
  • Hosting. Our hosting provider processes the server records described above.
  • Links to other sites. The “Around the web” headlines and the sources under our stories link to other publishers and sites. Once you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies. The WhatsApp button only opens WhatsApp when you click it.

Your choices

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to us through the contact page.

Changes

If we add features that collect more information, such as analytics, advertising, comments or a newsletter, we will update this page first and change the date above.
